This seminar is aimed at individuals currently in the (re)insurance industry or in supporting industries who do not work in underwriting or catastrophe modeling areas but are seeking a greater understanding of the business. The course assumes no experience of catastrophe reinsurance. Topics to be covered include: the major catastrophe exposures worldwide: natural perils, man-made catastrophes and pandemic; an introduction to property catastrophe modeling: why are catastrophe models constructed?, how catastrophe models are constructed and the major vendor catastrophe models; catastrophe model input data and types of analysis; basic cat model output; the different methods of transferring catastrophe risk; pricing and monitoring catastrophe risk and the underwriting cycle.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Anyone interested in a brief but thorough discussion of this topic. Suitable for beginners or experienced insurance professionals.
